1970 MG MGB GT LE-50 - SOLD

We are delighted to be able to offer this extremely rare, No.3 of 50, limited edition Frontline built MGB GT finished in Sage green with Oyster leather trim and grey accents, knock on Dunlop style wheels but with a modern twist.

Built in September 2012, the specification which accompanies the car details the finishes specified by the owner and makes impressive reading.

Built upon a new British Heritage shell which is fully seam welded for strength, Frontline added a modern drivetrain which utlises Mazda MX5 running gear including a six speed gearbox and blistering performance, 0-60 in 5.1 seconds, 212 BHP and a top speed of 160 mph.

The owner has used the car sparingly having covered just over 5000 miles in eight years.

As you would expect, the car is in superb order throughout.

Entirely blemish free, the bodywork is in excellent shape with superb panel fit. From the Frontline factory, the cars are fully de-seamed so may of the traditional rot spots on an MGB are no longer there and really accentuate the curvaceous lines of the car. 

With so few miles covered and a potent engine, this car flies, with a purposeful growl from the induction system under load it sounds as good as it looks. The brakes are upgraded to suit the increased performance but the car manages to retain that essential MGB driving experience.

Resplendent in the chosen shade of Sage green, the overall impression is of a thoughtfully executed tweaking of the original design to emphasise the traditional MGB GT shape. All of the chrome is in great shape and echoes the 1965 original with the early style rear lamp clusters and chrome bumpers. The wheels are a delight and echo those used on the MGA Twin Cam cars.

Frontline have done a fantastic job of providing modern appointments but within a totally authentic MG cabin. Using high grade materials, no surface has been misjudged with high quality leather seating, re-laid out rear deck area, push button start, electric windows. modern stereo etc.
