Facelifted in 1970 to become the Mk III, the GT6 was was revised to match the changes made to the Spitfire Mk IV: modifications included a 'Kamm tail, recessed door handles and a smoother front end. Only detail changes were made to the mechanics, but in 1973 – close to the end of the car's production life – the rear suspension was changed again. Performance was now comfortably ahead of the MGB GT, fuel economy was also improved to 28 mpg average.

We are delighted to be able to offer this superbly restored GT6 in attractive Sapphire Blue with black trim. The car has been fully restored with the body tub having been lifted from the chassis, the suspension, drive train and engine rebuilt. We have a full photographic record of the work completed which was to a high standard.

Supplied new to P J Evans Limited, the car was supplied new with overdrive, seatbelts and 155 x 15 tubeless tyres. Previously a Rimmer Bros cover car, it appears to have been cherished from new.

With a glorious 6 cylinder soundtrack and taught handling, this GT6 is a thoroughly enjoyable and practical classic and with rising prices should prove to be a worthwhile investment.

Bodywork

In great shape having had several new panels and a full bare metal repaint, the paintwork has a lustrous shine and a deep even finish. The underside of the car was painted at the same time and with very few miles since restoration, remains in good order.

Mechanical

Every component has either been renewed, reconditioned or replaced and whilst apart, it has been painted. The overall effect is of near pristine condition and as a result, the car drives extremely well with adequate performance and a wonderful exhaust note. The overdrive works well and affords relaxed cruising.

Exterior

As you would expect of a restored car, all of the trim is in fine condition, the wheels have been refurbished and new tyres fitted.

Interior

Fitted with new, high quality carpets, the interior is a lovely place to be with a glorious wood veneer dashboard, the comfortable seats and a full array of instruments.
