Original throughout and unrestored, the 1974 MGB GT V8 has come to us from a collector who, together with previous owners, has sparingly used the car but maintained it in excellent condition. The fit and appearance is factory fresh with perfect panel gaps and that unique sense of the car never having been taken apart that you cannot achieve when restoring a car. Within the service history is the original BL Passport to Service, even in its original envelope, together with most of the previous MoTs and recent receipts of servicing and maintenance.
As you would expect, it drives extremely well, the V8 burble is muted but the urge is effortless under acceleration, the overdrive clicking in and out without fuss - all in all, an impressive long distance tourer.

Bodywork

For an unrestored car, this GT V8 is in remarkable condition with excellent factory panel gaps and alignment.

Mechanical

With bags of torque and that fantastic soundtrack, this car is a hoot to drive. It starts easily from cold and soon settles into that familiar V8 burble, on the move the gearchange is smooth and precise, the steering is relatively light and you can imagine covering long distances with ease.

Exterior

Boasting what appears to be mostly original paint, the car still retains its 1970s look and feel, the trim and brightwork original and in excellent condition.

Interior

One forgets how light and airy GTs feel, with the expanse of glass and thin pillars, together with the comfortable seats and largely original trim the whole plot represents a very well looked after motorcar.

Apart from our accurate and reliable description of this car we believe you will not find a better bunch of chaps to deal with; we know our MGs inside out, we won’t flannel you with sales speak and we aim to provide you with a car that you will be bringing back in a year’s time when the next service and MOT is due, no sooner! However, if you do have a problem we will stand by our car and help you in every way possible. We like to think that 38 years in this business counts for something.

We are in the quiet Berkshire countryside but close to the M4 and Mortimer Railway Station. Our local pub, the Elm Tree is just a few minutes’ walk away and serves fantastic food and proper beers. Call us to arrange a viewing and a test-drive and come and make a day of it.

  • If you are going to use your MGB for everyday use, for competition, or your current gearbox is giving you trouble then our Mazda gearbox conversion might be an ideal solution for you.

  • When you own a classic car knowing where to get the best spare parts is crucial. We have a dedicated Parts Manager who will track down the best quality and hardest to find part for your car, we like to call this Automotive Archaeology, if it’s available ... we will find it.

  • Classic cars are special, and we can provide MOT testing for yours.

  • We clean and air dry the underside of your cherished classic and treat with a choice of clear or black waxoyl.

  • If you need to store your classic car for a short period or more long term, wouldn't it be reassuring to know that it was being stored by a highly skilled professional team who love their work?

  • When your car is with us we have a wide selection of courtesy cars for you to use.
