On offer is this very smart MGB Roadster unusually finished in black, with red trim. It has the most desirable specification including wire wheels and overdrive plus all of the early features of the BMC era cars.

With very low ownership, the last for nearly twenty years, the car has clearly been well cared for. Whilst there are no supporting invoices, the information in the thick history file suggests that the car was comprehensively restored in 1987 by Sheriff Motors and there is a plaque under the bonnet confirming this. The current mileage showing of around 22,000 miles is probably what has been covered since that restoration.

The file contains many old MoT certificates and receipts for regular maintenance. We have thoroughly inspected the car's structure and all is well being both solid and requiring no attention other than a regular top up of the Waxoyl rust protection.

Offering excellent value for money, this delightful Roadster is ready to go and will provide a new owner with much enjoyment.

Available for viewing in our dry, well lit sales barn, by appointment please.

For sale on behalf of the owner.

Bodywork

Previously restored to a very high standard many years ago, the bodywork remains in excellent condition.

Mechanical

No doubt fully reconditioned during the restoration and with minimal mileage since, the car drives very nicely being both responsive and torquey allowing the car to pull well in all gears and with a nice gentle action to the overdrive, the steering is positive and relatively light and the clutch action good with us just having replaced it.

The multiple service bills in the folder demonstrate diligent maintenance for nearly 30 years.

Exterior

The car presents itself extremely well and despite having been restored over 30 years ago, the paintwork is excellent with a wonderful deep gloss. All of the chrome is good as are the wire wheels which were new a few years ago.

Interior

The red trim works brilliantly with the black bodywork and is all in fine order with a crisp finish to the dashboard, bright instrumentation and very comfortable seats. The carpet is in good condition as is the remaining trim. The hood is good and the car has the later folding type frame making the job of putting the hood up and down much easier.

Apart from our accurate and reliable description of this car we believe you will not find a better bunch of chaps to deal with; we know our MGs inside out, we won’t flannel you with sales speak and we aim to provide you with a car that you will be bringing back in a year’s time when the next service and MOT is due, no sooner! However, if you do have a problem we will stand by our car and help you in every way possible. We like to think that 38 years in this business counts for something.

We are in the quiet Berkshire countryside but close to the M4 and Mortimer Railway Station. Our local pub, the Elm Tree is just a few minutes’ walk away and serves fantastic food and proper beers. Call us to arrange a viewing and a test-drive and come and make a day of it.
