Supplied new by University Motors this '68 built MGC GT was first registered in September 1969, this delightful example was specified from new in Tartan red complimented by black leather trim piped in red together with 72 spoke wire wheels, overdrive, heater and at some point early in it's life, a folding Webasto roof.

Presented in lovely condition, the car has had some restoration work including a reconditioned engine and was repainted, probably in the mid eighties but otherwise remains largely original.

To unleash some of the potential of this model, it has also had a 'Downton' style 6 branch manifold, triple SU HS6 carbs, sports coil and ignition leads as well as adjustable Spax front shock absorbers, wider tyres and uprated and adjustable anti roll bar.

Overall, the car is in truly excellent condition and in a favoured colour combination, a thick history file comes with the car which shows that it has been cared for.

At last, MGC's are being recognised as a practical long distance tourer and this example represents fantastic value.

Offered for sale on behalf of our customer and whilst fully inspected by us, it is sold without warranty.

Bodywork

Straight and solid, great panel gaps, excellent underneath.

Mechanical

The car drove beautifully on test with strong performance from the engine, precise gearbox and reassuring brakes, there are lots of invoices showing regular maintenance more recently covering a stainless steel fuel tank, clutch, new brakes and new batteries.

Exterior

Lovely traditional looking car in the preferred colour and sat on clean wire wheels, the chrome work is all in excellent condition, the paint bright and glossy and the lighting equipment is all as per factory specification.

Interior

Clearly, the interior has been refreshed at some point as it is in lovely order, the front seats are particularly nice with a great patina, everything works.

Apart from our accurate and reliable description of this car we believe you will not find a better bunch of chaps to deal with; we know our MGs inside out, we won’t flannel you with sales speak and we aim to provide you with a car that you will be bringing back in a year’s time when the next service and MOT is due, no sooner! However, if you do have a problem we will stand by our car and help you in every way possible. We like to think that 38 years in this business counts for something.

We are in the quiet Berkshire countryside but close to the M4 and Mortimer Railway Station. Our local pub, the Elm Tree is just a few minutes’ walk away and serves fantastic food and proper beers. Call us to arrange a viewing and a test-drive and come and make a day of it.

  • Classic cars are special, and we can provide MOT testing for yours.

  • We clean and air dry the underside of your cherished classic and treat with a choice of clear or black waxoyl.
