1978 MG MGB GT - SOLD

On offer is this lovely MGB GT finished in Pageant Blue with black trim. Originally supplied by University Motors, the previous owner had the car for 35 years, during which it was mostly dry stored, passing then to one of the BHG team who has recommissioned the car. It has had both sills professionally replaced and a glass out repaint together with a rebuilt overdrive unit, clutch and various other mechanical work. As a result, it looks and drives extremely well, the colour really suiting the car. The car further benefits from a fully working, weathertight, folding sunroof, Moto-Lita steering wheel, recent tyres and a Bluetooth/DAB radio adapter. Practical enough to use on a regular basis, these late GT's are easy to live with having dual circuit brakes, hazard flashers, heated rear window and inertia reel seat belts as standard.

Nice examples are difficult to find and this one is an absolute cracker!

The car benefitted from comprehensive Cadulac rustproofing when new as evidenced by the plugs in the bodywork where wax was injected and the certificate within the ownership folder. This has preserved the structure of the car very well but new sills have been fitted both sides as the originals had just started to deteriorate, otherwise the car is rock solid.

From the history folder and the fact that the car has been in dry storage for so long, the low mileage of just over 50K miles is believed to be genuine. As a result, the car drives extremely well especially having been recommissioned which has included a brake overhaul, reconditioned overdrive unit, head gasket, new radiator and hoses plus lots of other service items.

The paintwork was a little faded so the bodywork has been treated to a glass out full repaint which has exmphasised what a great colour Pageant Blue is and how well it suits these later MGBs. The Minilte style alloys are in great shape and shod with modern Toyo tyres. The remaining trim is in great condition.

Originally the car would have been fitted with silver grey stripe trim which is often replaced by something less garish. This car is not exception and the front seats have been retrimmed with quality black leather covers which are in good condition. The carpets are the originals and in good condition, all of the trim is in good shape. For practicality and everyday use, the car has been fitted with a DAB tuner and Bluetooth hands free set up.
