MG MGB GT V8 - SOLD
On offer is this delightful MGB GT V8 owned by one of our long standing customers, which we have recently recommissioned due to ill health has not been used regularly.
Launched on the eve of the 1973 fuel crisis, just 2500 MGB GT V8s were made at Abingdon before production ceased. Overshadowed by its BL heritage and a perceived lack of status alongside some of its more prestigious GT rivals, this great MG model has been under-appreciated whilst being a hugely accomplished sports coupé. Despite the model's age, it offers 0-60mph in 8.6 secs and 125mph ability. The MGB GT V8 is an enigma as it rivals the comfort and performance of an E-type 2+2 but with a much more affordable price.
Whilst with is we have carried out a full brake overhaul and service and submitted the car for an MoT which it passed without advisories, the V8 engine sounds great and the performance impressive with a great ride and good handling.
Overall, the car looks stunning with a deep gloss to the Mallard Green paintwork, much more attractive than its original supplied shade of Harvest Gold, no doubt as a result of a previous and extensive restoration.
The car is available for viewing in our dry well lit sales barn, by appointment please.
For sale on behalf of the owner.
Bodywork
Very bright and tidy with no areas of concern, panel fit is good and the doors shut nicley.
Mechanical
Extensive mechanical overhaul completed in recent years, including a gearbox rebuild, front suspension overhaul and steering rack. The oil pressure is excellent and it warms up nicely, pulling well from cold.
Exterior
The paintwork is excellent with just a few minor small chips, all consistent with a car of this age and an older restoration, the chrome is all good with everything being period correct, all of the electrical equipment functions well.
Interior
In an attractive navy finish, the seat covers are excellent with clean carpets and a dashboard that is in great shape with clean instruments, everything works including the interior light!
