Austin Allegro 1300 Super - SOLD
Truly a survivor, this Austin Allegro is in remarkable condition. Recently recommissioned after a period of long term dry storage, the car is now MoT'd with a clean bill of health and works have included refurbished wheels, new Toyo tyres, a brake overhaul, clutch slave cylinder, new battery, cooling system flush and water pump plus various other small jobs.
The overall condition of the car is outstanding and it has clearly been cared for by just 6 owners, the two most recent being Allegro club members.
The indicated mileage is low and judging by the exterior, interior and mechanical condition, it is probably genuine but there is no history with the car other than the original handbook and a clear HPI report.
It drives very nicely and keeps up with modern traffic easily, the Hydrolastic suspension is a joy, particularly on our pothole ridden roads.
According to 'How Many Left' there's just 82 of these left and this must be one of the nicest!
Available for viewing in our dry, well lit sales barn by appointment, please.
For sale on behalf of the owner so sold without warranty.
Bodywork
Absolutely rock solid everywhere, we've had it up on our ramp and could find no noticeable corrosion prior to thoroughly Waxoyling it underneath. All the panels appear to be original items and the standard of fit is as you would expect straight from the factory.
Mechanical
With plenty of very recent mechanical work completed, the car drives very well and is quite sprightly, the steering is light yet direct and the gearchange typically BL front wheel drive but not difficult. Once on the move, it is quiet with no untoward noises.
Exterior
The body and paintwork are exceptionally good for a 70's BL made car with a bright gloss to the paint, all the glass is free from major scratches and the trim and brightwork generally very well preserved with everything working as it should. The refinished wheels really lift the appearance and the tyres although modern have been selected to look 'right'.
Interior
Again, extremely well preserved with no significant damage although the carpets are a little faded but without unsightly damage or repairs. A set of Allegro branded front rubber mats are fitted along with the original working LW/MW radio.
Apart from our accurate and reliable description of this car we believe you will not find a better bunch of chaps to deal with; we know our MGs inside out, we won’t flannel you with sales speak and we aim to provide you with a car that you will be bringing back in a year’s time when the next service and MOT is due, no sooner! However, if you do have a problem we will stand by our car and help you in every way possible. We like to think that 38 years in this business counts for something.
We are in the quiet Berkshire countryside but close to the M4 and Mortimer Railway Station. Our local pub, the Elm Tree is just a few minutes’ walk away and serves fantastic food and proper beers. Call us to arrange a viewing and a test-drive and come and make a day of it.
