1960 Austin Healey Sprite 'Frogeye' - SOLD

An absolute delight to drive, we are pleased to be able to offer this 1960 Austin Healey 'Frogeye' Sprite finished in period correct red with black trim.

Offered for sale on behalf of our customer who has owned the car for over 10 years, having it regularly serviced and repaired by ourselves so we know the car well.

Originally exported to California, the car was repatriated in 1998 and thoroughly restored around that time. The climate has clearly been kind to the car and it remains in wonderfully solid condition and has retained its steel bonnet, underneath is rock solid and a stainless steel exhaust completes a positive health check undertaken by ourselves.

It was fitted with a 1275cc engine some years ago which, we assume, was a reconditioned unit as it still runs beautifully and proves spirited performance, driving through a slick easy to use gear change and a quiet differential.

These cars are an absolute hoot to drive with outstanding go-kart like handling, great for a run down to the pub or scooting around country lanes.

As a commission sale, it is offered without warranty but with the peace of mind that it has been fully inspected by ourselves prior to sale.

In great shape with no issues, panel gaps are good and a solid feel on the move. Retains a steel bonnet, both doors are rust free, no issues underneath, ramp inspection available.

Drives sweetly with a great rasp from the exhaust, lively performance with no issues noted on an extended test drive, just had a new clutch slave cylinder and a brake overhaul so now stops as well as it goes. Surprisingly economical too! The car has been fitted with a modern alternator so the mechanically driven rev counter is not working.

The dark red shade really suits the car and given that it was restored over twenty years ago, it is in fine order with just a few marks here and there but overall the appearance is most appealing. It is nice to see that the original wheels and hub caps have been retained which are shod with a matching set of Goodyear radials. The limited chrome is all in good condition and all of the electrics work, including the indicators.

The car comes with full weather equipment including a tonneau cover, hood with frame and side screens. There is also the correct jack for the car.

Whilst there may not be a lot of it, the seat are quite comfortable and despite it's small size, the car actually feels quite roomy inside. The seats are in good condition as are the carpets.
