Morris Marina 1.7HL Estate - SOLD
How rare is this car? Apparently one of two left on the road in the UK, this delightful Morris Marina Estate has led a charmed life.
Previously sold by us, the car came from an avid collector of all things British Leyland who had a particular fondness for Marinas.
In excellent condition when we sold it, the car has been further improved by the current owner, who has extremely high standards, by the addition of many new old stock parts such that the appearance is remarkably close to new. The interior is a timewarp and for those of us who are old enough to remember travelling in these BL era cars will instantly recognise the smell and feel.
On the move, the car drives as well as I recall and offers huge practicality with a massive load area and seats that fold down sufficiently to form a bed.
The appearance is further enhanced by the striking colour scheme and needs no further attention.
Recently awarded the runner up prize in a Marina Club event, this surely must be one of the best Marinas available anywhere.
For sale on behalf of the owner.
Available to view in our dry well lit sales barn, by appointment please.
Bodywork
Rock solid with no evident issues, all the panels appear to be factory original and everything is straight and honest.
Mechanical
With such a low mileage and few doting owners, as you would expect, the car drives really well, the 'O' series engine is flexible and responsive and offers adequate power, the gearbox has recently been rebuilt and there is a sheaf of invoices and receipts for parts and work carried out over many years.
Exterior
The colour really suits the car and must be quite rare in either estate or saloon form as I don't remember seeing many yellow Marinas back in the day, new old stock bumpers have been fitted and lots of new trim and badges have been fitted, replacement mudflaps with the correct printing fitted, along with refinished wheels and new tyres.
Interior
Truly superb, the velour seats in these cars were never that robust but these are in super shape with none of the usual saginess, the headlining clean and without damage, the carpets are as new and again lots of new old stock parts fitted including a radio and glovebox lid.
Apart from our accurate and reliable description of this car we believe you will not find a better bunch of chaps to deal with; we know our MGs inside out, we won’t flannel you with sales speak and we aim to provide you with a car that you will be bringing back in a year’s time when the next service and MOT is due, no sooner! However, if you do have a problem we will stand by our car and help you in every way possible. We like to think that 38 years in this business counts for something.
We are in the quiet Berkshire countryside but close to the M4 and Mortimer Railway Station. Our local pub, the Elm Tree is just a few minutes’ walk away and serves fantastic food and proper beers. Call us to arrange a viewing and a test-drive and come and make a day of it.
