MG MGA Roadster 1600 MKII - SOLD
Replacing the ageing MG TF, the MGA design dates back to 1951, when MG designer Syd Enever created a streamlined body for George Philips' TD Le Mans car. The new bodywork design was a long way away from the very traditional MG TF's extended wings and running boards, the result, one of the most beautiful models ever to leave Abingdon.
This example is a delight with a thick history file, much of it from ourselves, good solid bodywork, bright glossy paintwork and excellent driving manners it makes a shrewd buy especially for a first time classic car buyer. The MGA is very easy to drive with excellent hood down visibility, a precise gearbox and torquey engine, they are ideal for pottering about the lanes, a run down to the pub or even daily use. The original registration document is still with the car and shows that it has always had this registration number which is worth a lot on it's own.
The older restoration has settled in nicely but the car remains in excellent condition throughout but not so nice that you'd be scared to leave it anywhere.
Offered for sale on behalf of the owner.
Available for viewing in our dry storage barn, by appointment please.
Bodywork
With photographic evidence of an extensive restoration, we estimate in the 1990's, it is clear that the body was removed from the chassis and components fully rebuilt or reconditioned and it still retains a very sharp appearance inside, outside and underneath.
Mechanical
With regular servicing, mostly by us, the car is 'on the button' and drives very well with light steering and clutch it bowls along beautifully.
Exterior
In probably the best colour for an 'A', the car presents very well and it is good to see that it has retained it's original steel wheels and hubcaps making it one of the most original MKII models around. The hood is in good condition and the car comes with the factory side screens meaning that it can be used all year round.
Interior
We assume that the interior was retrimmed when the car was restored and everything remains in good condition, particularly the dashboard which can often look tired in an 'A'.
