MG MGA 1600 Roadster - SOLD
Supplied new to North America in September 1959, the car returned in 1988 apparently in need of renovation despite being remarkably solid and rust free. Previously owned by the secretary of the Twin Cam register of the MG Car Club, the car was converted to right hand drive and having owned it for 19 years it then passed through a couple of owners until purchased by Keith Carey in 2014. Keith carried out a full nut and bolt rebuild to an extremely high standard, in fact, probably the best we have seen for some time. There are lots of invoices detailing the parts bought and the work carried out and judging by the way the car drives, every component has been refurbished or replaced.
To restore a car to this standard would cost many time the asking price and it would be difficult to replicate the fine condition of this lovely car.
Bodywork
Near perfect shut lines compliment the deep shine of the Chariot Red paintwork, there are no visible marks to detract from the amazing condition. The curvaceous lines are complimented by near new wire wheels shod with barely worn tyres.
Mechanical
In near new condition, the car starts easily and drives superbly with light positive gear changes and an easy clutch operation, the uprated engine offers sparkling performance and is reputedly running at 1840cc, the brakes have recently been overhauled with reconditioned calipers.
Exterior
The overall visual appearance is stunning being in a very desirable shade of red, chrome work in excellent condition and with all its correct period features. The car comes with full weather equipment including a tan hood and side screens.
Interior
Trimmed in tan leather, the quality of the interior materials is high with comfortable seats and a full array of instrumentation all in as new condition - a delightful place to be.
