A beautiful example of a rare car in outstanding restored condition, we are delighted to be able to offer this most attractive Alpine on behalf of the owner.

Quoting from the Autocar Road Test dated May 1966, the Series V Alpine was fitted with the then current 5 main bearing 1725cc engine which gave improved performance and economy over the previous model and when fitted with overdrive, as this car has, gave a good choice of gear ratios and a fuss free drive.

Being the GT model, it was equipped with a detachable hard top but no soft top, a tonneau cover does come with the car to give protection in light showers.

We've carried out a full inspection of the car on our ramp and can advise that the underside is excellent and with evidence of a high quality restoration.

The file that accompanies the car includes the original buff log book showing that it spent its first 50 years in the Bristol area, 40+ with one owner.

Please note that the car now sits on it's original steel wheels.

Early viewing is advised as we don't think that the car will be with us for long!

All our sales cars are available for viewing, by appointment please, in our large dry, well lit showroom.

Bodywork

Clearly a lot of time, attention and skill was invested when the car was restored, panel fit is excellent and the colour emphasises the wonderful shape.

Mechanical

Although there is limited history with the car, it is obvious from the way it drives that it has been thoroughly overhauled and then subsequently maintained to a high standard. It offers relaxed performance with light steering and clutch, a precise gearchange and overdrive that clicks in and out without knocks or clonks.

Exterior

Finished in a most attractive colour, Mediterranean Blue, the bodywork gleams with no evidence of repairs or corrosion, all of the brightwork is present and in good condition. The period alloy wheels are shod with good tyres and there is a set of refurbished original steels wheels with the car if you prefer a more traditional look.

Interior

Presented with a full set of instrumentation housed in a lovely wooden dashboard, the view from the comfortable seats is impressive, Rootes always felt better screwed together than their contemporaries and this car is no exception. I was struck by how good the visibility all around the car is, especially with the hard top on the car.

Obviously refurbished during the restoration, the interior is difficult to fault.

Apart from our accurate and reliable description of this car we believe you will not find a better bunch of chaps to deal with; we know our MGs inside out, we won’t flannel you with sales speak and we aim to provide you with a car that you will be bringing back in a year’s time when the next service and MOT is due, no sooner! However, if you do have a problem we will stand by our car and help you in every way possible. We like to think that 38 years in this business counts for something.

We are in the quiet Berkshire countryside but close to the M4 and Mortimer Railway Station. Our local pub, the Elm Tree is just a few minutes’ walk away and serves fantastic food and proper beers. Call us to arrange a viewing and a test-drive and come and make a day of it.
