1964 Hillman Super Minx - SOLD

On offer is this superb Hillman Super Minx finished in period Fern Green with an Alpine White roof and green trim. The car has covered an incredibly low 28,800 miles from new supported by extensive history and old MoT certificates.

It was supplied new by Reading Garages and apart from a brief period in Cheltenham, has always been a local car and in the ownership of two sisters who clearly garaged and cherished it.

We have carried out some light recommissioning including a brake refresh, a service and some new tyres to replace the original 'John Bull' crossplies - these come with the car if you want them!

The bodywork is in super order with no visible rust, appears to be mostly original, and offers a very British take on period transatlantic styling with a wrap around rear window and the merest hint of fins at the rear.

Having covered such a low mileage, as you can imagine the car drives extremely well with no rattles or other untoward noises, the engine is quiet, gearchanges smooth and the reassurance of disc brakes up front. Refreshed with new coolant hoses and a flush, the car feels unhurried and maintains a normal temperature.

The overall impression is that of a two year old car rather than that of a 55 year old. There are the odd marks here and there but certainly nothing that detracts from its appearance. The chrome is generally very good as are all of the lenses and other trim.

Wonderfully original, these Hillmans were always slightly more upmarket than many of the contemporary Fords and Vauxhalls of the same era. The seats remain supportive and the vinyl is free from damage or fading as the car was garaged for most of its life. The carpets are original and unworn but have faded somewhat but it would seem a shame to change them.
